The RADICAL mission was to develop a digital seedbed for creative arts practice. The project, which was rated highly by the wider community and by the EC reviewers, closed at the end of 2002, but the publications, references and creative echoes it created are still going strong.
The two-year RADICAL project produced: three major international events, a number of new software prototypes for further development, a website, and publications providing guides to good practice in the fields of creativity for the IST programme. When the project closed it received top marks in review in early 2003, and the website was moved across to this SMARTlab site for permanent secure hosting.
The project produced dozens of reports, web site pages and tools. The top three selected by reviewers were:
1) The final RADICAL report (public version-document file): ‘Creativity and Innovation: Ways forward for the European Union in Cross-Sector and Interdisciplinary International Partnerships‘, by Dr Lizbeth Goodman et al.
2) The high profile RADICAL MANIFESTO by Dr Sally Jane Norman, Marleen Stikker, Sher Doruff et al, is included in short form in the project’s book.
3) The RADICAL Project’s full-length book publication, ‘A Guide to Good Practice in Collaborative Working Methods and New Media Tools Creation‘ (by and for artists and the cultural sector), eds. Lizbeth Goodman and Katherine Milton.
