Genaro is currently a full-time researcher in Technology Enhanced Learning at the Facultad de Informática (Faculty of Informatics), Universidad Veracruzana, Mexico. He is currently leader of the Educational Technology Group, which focuses on the design, development and evaluation of technology for educational purposes. Genaro carried out PhD studies at the IDEAS Lab, University of Sussex. His PhD project, entitled ‘Modelling the Learners Motivational State in a Vygotskyan-inspired ITS’, investigated the effectiveness of motivational scaffolding in learning technology. He also holds a BSc in Informatics (Universidad Veracruzana) and an MSc in Human-Centred Computer Systems (University of Sussex). Genaro’s experience includes working as a post-doctoral fellow at the London Knowledge Lab, the Institute of Education, University of London, and the IDEAS Lab, University of Sussex. He was a full-time researcher at the Serious Games Institute, Coventry University. During this time, his research focused on applying multimodal technology for learning, assessing the role of affect in learning environments and investigating the effectiveness of game-based learning. Genaro has also worked as a Learning Technology Advisor at the University of East London, and he co-supervises PhD students at SMARTlab UCD.
