Congratulations to Professor Lizbeth Goodman and Dr Mick Donegan, co-PIs of the SMARTlab project InterFACES, in partnership with SpecialEffect, on being selected as a finalist in this year’s World Summit for Education (WISE) Awards.

WISE, now in its fourth year, is a global collaborative initiative, inaugurated in 2009 by the Qatar Foundation. It is dedicated to building the future of education through innovation, and to address global issues such as poverty, unemployment, inequality and conflict. WISE aims to equip 21st-century education to meet these challenges by expanding dialogue and encouraging the implementation of practical and sustainable solutions.

The InterFACES project has been selected as one of 24 global finalists for its achievements in ‘Transforming Education’, this year’s WISE theme, in recognition of worldwide projects that find solutions to a wide range of educational challenges. Other projects come from Canada, the US, India, Ireland, Argentina, Pakistan, China, Ghana, Denmark, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Myanmar, Cambodia, Nepal and Kenya.

Six finalists will be announced as winners at the WISE Summit, to be held in Doha from 13–15 November.

Best of Luck Lizbeth and Mick!
